These eggs are so realistic and are highly effective in keeping the chickens from pecking and eating the eggs. A great product!

Bought these as replacements as snakes and crows have over time carried off the ones I bought 6-7 years ago. I primarily use them in ground nests for mallard ducks. If I remove all the eggs from the nest (for incubation) then the mallards will find a different place to lay, but they will continue in the same nest if a couple of these are left behind. Since they are ceramic, snakes usually regurgitate them not far from the nest and crows usually drop them just over the fence.

We have have five spoiled chickens. We have three nest boxes when two is all that's needed. They won't share and they all like one particular box...and they fight over it! We started putting these eggs in the nesting boxes slightly before the hens began laying. We have never had a problem with them laying anywhere but in the nesting boxes. They are now 3 years old and so used to the fake eggs, that if I remove the eggs, the hens carry on, running from one nesting box to another. No sooner do I drop a fake egg in, then they settle right down on it. All I did was write F in pencil on each end of an egg so I don't get confused. Even when I clean the fake eggs, the pencil mark doesn't come off. These are great fake eggs, have stood up to daily use for three years and still retain their color, coating, and the hens will roll the fake eggs from one nesting box to their favorite nesting box. That's how real the hens think they are.

Our chickens were eating or destroying all of their eggs, so a friend suggested we try sticking some ceramic eggs in their coop. I bought a few of these, and they work like a charm! After a couple weeks, our chickens are almost entirely leaving their eggs alone, so we are very pleased with our investment. These eggs fool us too, and I finally marked the fakes with a sharpie so we would quit collecting them!
