This product is great. I had bought several shellers, but they turned out to be for dent corn. Popcorn cobs are very slender, so it takes a special size sheller. This one, the Decker P51, is perfect. The photo has the corn in front of the cob, but it is actually deposited in the back of the sheller. I realize it is for display purposes.
This tool has saved lots of raw fingers and cramped hands from peeling the kernels off the cob. I only have about 20+ bushels of popcorn to do, so this will make a big difference. I would say this has given me more appreciation for buying popcorn in the store. What those manufacturers have to go through to give customers a clean, uniform product is amazing.
Now I just have to find a shucker so I can get the husks off for drying. I highly recommend this product if you are raising and harvesting popcorn at home. Cure the kernels for great popcorn. It takes a while, so do not think you are going to have great popcorn right off the cob. Let it dry out. I think kernel moisture should be around 13 to 14 percent. Shelled kernels cure faster than unshelled ones. This tool makes separation easier and faster because you do not have to deal with sore fingers and hands.

Thank you for having an actual popcorn sheller. I have at least 20 more bushels of popcorn to do and this Decker Sheller 51P works GREAT! Now I am not worried so much for next fall’s harvest of my next popcorn experiment.

This is a great little device for anyone who grows popcorn. So much easier on your hands!

The hand popcorn sheller works great! I even bought a second one so that two of us can get the job done at once. It efficiently removes the popcorn from the cob. It’s the perfect size for popcorn.
