The instructions and pictures are a little confusing, and it is hard to see which screws go where, but once you figure it out it assembles relatively quickly. The nest box itself is quite nice and works very well. Our chickens started using it right away! Good value for the price if you want one or two rollaway boxes to mount in an existing space. We got one to keep chickens from laying eggs all over the barn, and it is perfect for that.

Have used to for about a year. Disappointed in the quality, not long after I received the nest box the roll out box broke on left side where it connects to metal box, did think my birds were that heavy. Ended up screwing a 1x1 to metal and roll out box to fix it. I would not purchase this again.

I don’t usually do reviews but I was so impressed by this whole experience that I’m going to.
I found the Nest-o-Matic at a different place but found it slightly cheaper at Premier 1. I called to check availability and spoke to an actual person. He answered all my questions with the answers I wanted. I ordered 2 for my 10 hens and assembled 1 right away. The assembly instructions were clear, hardware was correct, it seems very sturdy, and the hens took to it right away. Best of all, no more busted, half-eaten eggs! I am noticing a line to get in so will probably set up the other one too. I ordered 2 nest pads for replacement but the original is holding up well so far, in spite of their scratching around on it!

These are good durable nesting boxes but my chickens just don’t like them. They were not the easiest to put together but were easy to hang. I don’t fault the product but since they were a bit pricey as mere decorations I can’t give them 5 stars. Maybe as my flock continues to grow I’ll finally have a hen that will use it.

Chicken won’t lay eggs in box. Hopefully they will.
Also consider using nest eggs to persuade hens to lay eggs in a nesting box (and not elsewhere) or to discourage egg eating by hens—a bad habit that can spread rapidly and is hard to stop.
