I used this pine tar on the feathered legs of my Light Brahma hen after realizing her 3 flock mates were pecking her feet. Previously, I had used other anti-peck topicals, antiseptic sprays, and pinless peepers, but none of them were effective long term.
It has now been nearly 3 weeks since my first application of this product, and it appears to be working — she has new feathers growing in! I did see the other hens peck immediately after the first application, but not since, making me think they did not care for the taste.
Compared to what I have read online, this product was easy to apply. It did wash off somewhat in our recent rains, so I applied it twice a week during that time. As expected, it has stained the feathers of our white hen, but that seems a small price to pay in exchange for no more injuries.
