The MiniReel™ Pro isn’t a throwaway accessory. It’s field equipment designed to withstand repeated use, rough handling, and the demands of frequent fence moves. The large central hub winds faster and more efficiently—a small detail that makes a big difference when you’re moving fence lines often. We also insisted on a design that hangs securely on high-tensile wire without working itself loose.

Got mine today and built a new rack to hang them off our side-by-side UTV. The reels seem like good quality, and the brake function will be really handy.

I had high expectations for these reels when I bought them. Finally a well-built small reel that would last. But of the 4 reels I bought, after a month of use 2 of them are now trash (the other 2 are still in the box).
Here's what I liked about the reels: 1) The handle is well made and seems like it should last a good while without breaking. 2) Likewise with the reel itself--built to last and I like that you can attach the polywire so that it doesn't slip on the reel. 3) The locking pin does firmly lock the reel, but it has other problems, as below.
Here are the deal-breakers: 1) The little red handle that you use to wind the reel is very flimsy in comparison to the reel. It breaks off easily. Get the polywire stuck on a piece of grass or weed and turn too hard and it snaps right off. 2) The locking pin when used in drag control mode wears completely off after about a hundred feet of polywire has played out. It just doesn't stand up. 3) There is a fair amount of friction between the reel and the "axle" that it rides on, which exacerbates point 1. Keeping it lubed might help. I have pictures documenting these problems, but this site apparently won't allow pictures in reviews.
For my money, I will continue buying the inexpensive mini-reels. They at least last a couple years before breaking or wearing out.
