How To Use
- Navels
- Holding the animal securely, submerge the whole navel into the dip cup, or spray liberally over the navel region, ensuring the solution fully covers the navel.
- Ear Tags
- Spray on ear tag site prior to application and/or apply directly to tags. Use care near the face as the product is an irritant to eyes.
Use bottle within 6 months of opening.
Precautions
Contains blue dye, which will stain. Handle with care to avoid contact with skin or clothing.

This is a brand new product that I tried and I’m actually very impressed by it! I’ve always used Betadine for my umbilical cords on my animals. I will continue to use this! Thank you Premier 1.

Works about the same as other products, but is very expensive on a per head basis considering the short shelf-life. We have a smaller flock that will produce 30–40 lambs per year, so we will end up throwing 90% of the product away. The 6-month shelf-life should be disclosed in the product description.

This was our first year using Umbirez on newborn lambs, and after one group… I’m honestly converted. We’ve always been an iodine barn, mostly out of habit, even though I’ve never loved how long it takes to dry or how inconsistent the coverage can be when you’re trying to dip a squirmy, still-steaming lamb.
Umbirez was a different experience from the start.
- It dries fast — way faster than iodine. I didn’t have to stand there waiting for the navel to stop dripping, and lambs weren’t walking around with wet, sticky cords.
- The seal is clean and firm, which matters when you’re trying to reduce the risk of navel infections or joint ill.
- Coverage was actually coverage. One dip and everything was coated evenly (a blessing when you’re working through multiples).
- No harsh chemical smell that hits you in the face at 3 AM.
- And the cords looked noticeably better within the first few hours — less shriveled, less irritated, just clean and dry.
After seeing how this first group turned out, Umbirez is staying in our lambing kit. I’m not going back to iodine unless I absolutely have to.

During the trial we found that UMBIREZ was easy to apply and so quick setting that if one twin lamb’s navel was treated with iodine and one was treated with UMBIREZ, the one treated with the barrier liquid was noticeably drier by the time they had moved to a pen.
We won’t be buying any iodine going forward; we’re now using UMBIREZ on all our lambs and calves.
