VersaNest™ Laying Box
Product Details
Versatile nesting boxes allow egg collection without disturbing peck-prone hens. Sloped floors allow freshly laid eggs to roll-out into a separate compartment, keeping eggs clean from manure and other nesting material.
- Eggs roll down full-length nesting pads into a collection tray, away from the hen
- Collection tray can be mounted to either the front or rear of the nest
- Use as a community nest (like our EcoNest Colony Box) or install the included dividers for a segmented nesting box (for shy hens)
2-hole or 4-hole capacities for medium to large flocks.

Assembly is pretty straightforward, but several holes could not line up either at all or without force. It is pretty chintzy overall, with thin sheet metal. The chickens regularly flip the perching bar off and then the roll-off cover open. There's no bracing, so if you don't mount it, you need to be careful with side-to-side movement. Overall, I would not purchase this product again without a few minor but significant improvements.

This is a durable, easy-to-clean nest box, and the roll-out feature has nearly eliminated the problem I had with egg pecking. My only complaint is with the assembly instructions. It would help if the parts had lettered stickers (e.g., attach part A to part B) that correspond with lettered parts in the pictured instructions.

Received my order in a timely fashion. Box was undamaged and all parts were in the box but several pieces were bent and crinkled. Directions suck and several of the holes don't line up, but I was able to figure it out. Materials are pretty sturdy except for the part where the cover hinges to the sides. When you open the lid to get the eggs, the metal bends, creases and folds. I don't foresee the lid lasting very long. Hopefully the company has replacement pieces for when those tabs snap off.

Purchased a few weeks ago and have been using since then. Went with this box over others due to it having individual boxes. Not a big fan of the community style and my hens seem to lay in it just fine. Keeps the eggs nice and clean and havent had any egg eaters yet. Assembly was tedious due to me having larger hands and trying to work with small hardware. Instructions were decent at best, but overall took me about 90 minutes. Now that I’ve done it once I feel like I could assemble it in about 30.

Overall once this product is together it appears as if it will work well. But if you are not familiar with putting things like IKEA together do not buy this.
